Not so Cool Coolers

Well, this is just in...

Damaged and amputated fingers from a cooler is (are?) not a laughing matter and should be taken seriously. However, the availablity of ice from said coolers immediate to the event would help or slow down swelling or bleeding.....

If it had been available at the time, this cooler could have been the goto cooler for the doomed Donner expedition in 1848, especially considering that part of their route involved a short cut(?) known as "The Hastings Cutoff....."

Igloo Coolers Company noted that "only a handful of coolers were involved" perhaps wording that could use a slight tweeking.......

Reading the recall. I'm not sure amputate is the right word since a cooler is not a surgeon. Must have been written by AI.

Anyway, looking at the product photos and guessing where the troublesome spot is, it would appear that someone would have to put a finger in the hole near the hinge on the large handle and then raise the handle. OUCH!

I'm not sure it's a hazard for drunk people. I'm thinking mostly kids playing with it. My observations are that if there's a hole, a kid will put their finger in. This thing failed product design 101. Doh!
