OBS Fullsize Blazer Roof Top Tent Question

Howdy all, Been Lurking this forum for quite some time and finally have a vehicle build in the works. I picked up a 1994 Fullsize Blazer thats in decent shape to build off of. I like it for its short wheelbase and pretty decent cargo capacity behind the rear seat. My questions are surrounding the roof rack. I know the factory cross bars are flimsy and not meant for any real weight. But are the OEM side rails strong enough to support a roof top tent if used with aftermarket crossbars? I searched this forum as well as a few others and general google searches and found no real info. I did come across a for sale ad on here of a later model year Tahoe that had the same hard shell RTT I want to use but I could not see what rack/rails were used to mount it.

Any guidance would be great.

The stock racks are easily removed and the rivnuts that they bolt to are pretty good mounting points for any type of roof top accessories, I've never looked but I'd bet most RTT manufacturers have mounts for your vehicle or you may find someone on the web that made their own and can show you how to replicate them, good luck and happy camping.

I yanked an extra set of stock rails from a wrecked truck to double the capacity of the rack on my 96 Suburban. I used to haul lumber up there, way heavier than a RTT. It’s cheap and easy!

Baseline Overland has Two Door Tahoe (Blazer) Roof Rack.

This is a 4 door for reference. We need to get some pics of the two doors back!
