Off road tandem

I was thinking about building an off-road tandem. I have a Cannondale mountain tandem, and we used to have front suspension which worked pretty well (had it on the white rim trail), but my wife suffered some on the rougher sections. We've had a few suspension posts, but even they are somewhat lacking.

I have had the chance to look at the Ventana El Conquistador. Here is a pic of what I'm thinking.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these.

I was going to purchase the frame and build the bike up over the winter.

Cobble Crazy:

My wife and I have ridden tandems for many years. our mountain bike tandem is an Ellsworth Witness. We were lucky to find a pre-owned Witness that was well set up and available for a reasonable price. We had researched most of the mountain bike tandems available at the time and the Witness was our first choice.

We were roadies (still are for a large part of our riding) so we wanted speed, agility and light weight more than a heavy, bombproof, downhill biased bike. The Ellsworth is fully suspended, yet lighter than the first road tandem we bought (a Santana Marathon in 1982). At the moment we're riding it as our only tandem with Continental Contact Sport road tires and it's sufficiently fast.

Depending on what you're after you might want to take a look at one.
