Oil Filter Question

I have a US spec. 1993 FG 439 that I purchased new. Back then the oil filter was about what you would expect for a smaller commercial diesel truck. The 1993 Parts catalog for the truck listed ME 013307 for the oil filter. Over the years this number was superseded a few times. Now its ME014833. These are a physical size suitable for a Honda Civic or other small economy car. I understand that a fleet manager with 50-100 FE delivery trucks might see substantial savings using a quart or more less oil each change, but believe a vehicle that spends weeks off road in the dirt would benefit from twice the filter media area and oil capacity.
The engine is listed as a 4D34-1AT3. Does anyone know the part number for a larger oil filter to use. I would guess that Mitsubishi would sell one meant for a larger truck today with the right thread, sealing gasket and bypass characteristics. It would be 'nice' to confirm that with a factory source, but don't expect an official OEM application.
Anybody have any experience, ideas or part numbers?

Hi,

ME013307,ME974236,ME013343 are the same filter.
Can use,
LF3830 Fleetguard,
P502008 Donaldson
Z372 Ryco
C-1012 Sakura
BD7028 Baldwin.
These all are M26 x 1.5 thread and are approx 152mm long.

ME014833 has a M20x1.5 thread and is about 105mm long.
Same as
C-1004 Sakura
B109 Baldwin
Z162 ryco.
LF 3407 Fleetgaurd.

What is the part number on your truck ???

Over the years I've just mail ordered parts for my Fuso from dealers in other parts of the US. I don't know if there is another FG in New Mexico. Speak up if you are out there, I would like to know. The ME013307 part number was in the original documentation & I know is obsolete. I took the ME014833 part number off a box sent to me as a replacement. It was sitting on the shelf in the shop as a spare. I think you saved me a nasty surprise the next time I changed the oil. I don't think that is the right filter. It indeed has 20 mm X 1.5 mm threads & looking on-line fits an earlier FG-434, not the 26 mm X 1.5 mm threads I believe I would find on my engine. The truck is buried in a LOT of snow and ice or I would have crawled under & looked to see the number on the one currently installed. Based on what you said it might be ME013343. That looks like a number currently available in the US. I was originally looking for a part number for a larger filter that could be used in 'severe' service. I don't mind using a different supplier, just don't want to get the wrong one LOL...

Hi,

You could try ME088532 or LF3817 or c-5808 they are M26x1.5 aprrox 180mm long it fit Rosa buses.
NOt sure about the seal dia, do check before fitting.
