I grew up in this Van, and the family really needs to find the next caretaker for it. We hadn’t thought we’d ever sell, but the time has come. Great bones for a potential Syncro conversion too!
My father ordered this Westy in 1987 for European delivery in Germany. After a month and a half camping in Europe, it was shipped back to California where it has been driven ever since.
The Great:
• California one-owner Van, 4-Speed.
• 127,xxx Original miles on the body, ~10,000 on 1.8T.
• 1.8T conversion in 2015 done at Stephan’s Autohaus in Sac, along with these mods:
o Re-geared
o Truckfridge Installed
o GW House Battery System Installed with shore charger.
o A/C single vent in rear.
o Fiamma Awning
• Original interior.
• CLK wheels on BFGs plus full matching 5th Wheel.
• Vanagon Life Center Console.
• Updated Propane Tank
Needs Attention:
• Batteries. Starting and House batteries need replacement. We’re holding off to allow new owner to spec a new house system, upgrade to Lifepo4 etc.
• Tent. It’s the original from ’87. It’s time to upgrade as well.
• Paint. It’s been repainted around 2004 with a cheapo single-stage paint job after sustaining a minor accident to the driver’s front corner after a fender bender in an intersection.
• A/C. Fans work. I think it needs to be recharged.
• Blower Motor. Yep. It’s frozen up. It worked as recently as last year, but she’s locked up.
• Window Seals. I think they are leaking air. Interior “whistle” when windows are rolled down above about 40mph.
There are tons of other little mods and improvements I’ve done over the years. This Van has a rich history of camping on the West Coast and has been part of our family since the Summer of ’87.
Asking $29,900. Happy to answer any questions and provide more pics.
