Opus OP 15 - rear bed pop-out

The opus hybrid camper has a somewhat unique pop out for the rear bed with hinged panels instead of a tent or slide out. Does anyone have experience with it and an opinion or review regarding that particular feature?

I've been planning and researching a custom trailer build for quite some time now and was leaning towards the (expensive) pre made pop out bunks available as an option in the flyer explore and other cargo trailers. However this style in the OP 15 might be preferable and possibly something that I could build myself.

It looks like a bit similar to how the old Apache campers worked.

I just noticed that the 12' MDC camper has the same thing. Maybe it's an Australian thing.

Looks like a pretty good system. I'm wondering if there is any real-world experience that validates that or can point out problems/frustrations.

I’ve worked on an OP15 doing pre-delivery inspection/checkout and customer orientation... can be set up by one person but you need long arms, upper body strength and some practice... not really practical for some one vertically challenged or lacking in strength/reach.

Thanks for the info. I doubt I'd have any trouble with it but sounds like my wife might. I doubt she'd ever use it without me though.

Does that rear pop out section seem like it's durable and seals up reasonably well against rain and bugs?

What holds the bed platform up when it's deployed.
