Our Frontier With Truck Camper

This is our new Frontier LWB CC with our just acquired Bronco 600. It feels a little heavy, but be have a few hundred miles down with out problems. Installed Timbren bump stops and feels pretty good, no sway or porpoising. Need to figure out where to put the bikes. I don't want them on the back as I don't feel the real end needs any more weight. Any thoughts on adding a front hitch and a bike rack there. I will use the front hitch for fishing rack when not bringing the bikes as well.

Comfortable setup. What does the slide in weigh? Do you have an auto or stick? As for the bikes, with airbags, the extra 50 pounds should'nt make a noticable difference, but having them on the front would be ideal.

It is an auto, I don't have air bags, just Tibrem bump stops, Back end feels pretty heavy. The sticker on the camper says 1004 lbs. I took out the fridge because it was dead, it only weighed 40 lbs. I'll get it on a scale soon.

At that weight you're pushing a good bit over GVWR when loaded up with the family, you might want to consider air bags. I wish I had the long bed....nice truck.

x2 on air bags ,also put on some 10 ply tires.

10 ply tires are on my list to replace on mine once these tires are gone. Looks like I run a bit less weight then you though. Think about stepping up to these sooner as they are safer but also will have less role.

About 275 miles yesterday with the camper and 3 bikes. Cape Cod to PA. Drove well. No issues. Hooked on the slide in.

Probably a silly question �� But what kind of gas mileage did you get with a load like that?

About 15 mpg. We had bikes on front rack too. It really isn't that worse than regular mileage.
