While traditional wood craft tools could fill a subforum here, I've explored multiuse tools from a hunting perspective, which means packing them in and out. Since I don't keep a mule handy for that, and Im limited to 45 pounds, it puts a distinct line in what I carry I try to keep a minimalist view of things now, which in my youth was greatly ignored. I discovered you really can have too much, and the Army enhanced that education at every turn.
Of recent interest is hatchets that also have saw blades - best of both worlds in the field as each has it's unique ability. Combining them, as with any multitool, does limit them some, just as it does with "swiss" knives. Zippo makes such a hatchet, albeit retailing at the $50+ level, but now, good old Ozark Trail is a supplier at the local Huge Chinese Discount Chain. It's a 16" hatchet with light head - a chopper, not a kindling splitter, and there is a significant difference. The blade attaches to the edge scabbard and locks at a curved butt which does make the opening larger to allow cutting bigger limbs.
These aren't for everybody - usually because they ask for the tool to do too much. I don't work on my truck with a pair of Gerber pliers, some claim they are the best expedient HMMV tool they ever carried. it goes to the ability to USE the tool. I've tried other hatchets, and I've found short 12" handles won't get the head speed up enough to chop, heavy splitters are no fun to tote over a 8 hour day, if they lack a saw some bush craft work becomes harder. For light use - not building a log lean to for the winter, which some paid influencers don't seem to think is out of bounds - small light hatchets with saws have a place. Most who RV get that, I haven't seen a Unimog go up Everest yet.

They are only stocked at one of the 5 superduper stores locally, the chain seems to have a different marketing scheme for some items lately.
