Outward Bound Promotional Video

Hi Guys

I am producing a promotional video for Outward Bound Philadelphia to show at an upcoming summit with investors and CEO's of major companies and corporations in the Philadelphia area.

The idea behind the project is to show investors and others that Philadelphia needs Outward Bound to create better leaders for the success of the city.

This is one of my first major paying projects as a film student, but I need as much feedback as possible. This is a rough cut and we are in the final cut stages, so any feedback will be much appreciated.

Keep in mind sound and color are not finalized as we must first lock picture and make the appropriate cuts prior to paying our color specialist and sound engineer to perfect those items...

Thanks guys!

I think it's really good.

But I am a little bit confused, it seems like O.B. is mostly to teaching skills to student. Especially toward the end of the movie.
Is that the goal? what do you mean by "create better leaders"?

I liked the lighting and color for the most part. Audio was good and when tweaked it will be even better. Lighting for the interviews was good in general, although the interview with the woman in the office with the window in back ground (left) seemed a little off. If it was my project, I might loose her all together, she didn't offer much (IMO)

Its too long. I lost interest fairly quickly.

It didn't grab my attention up front. What do you have that will make me want to watch? Would it add anything to start with the guy in the beard where he says "I get brought to tears..." around 3:52? Not showing him initially but his words with a shot of the kids doing something "amazing"?

Needs transitions. Not many but a 8-15 frame cross dissolve or flash transition or two wouldn't hurt.

Do you have any more compelling video? Maybe an extreme closeup of hands tying a knot- then a shot of the face of the person tying the knot- then an over the shoulder shot of the person tying a knot- then a wide shot of the person tying the knot. Note: It doesn't have t be tying a knot, it could be anything but the sequencing I have outlined may make for more compelling video.

The interviews seemed kind of... lengthy and disjointed. If the goal is to get business owners excited about the great things O.B. will do for kids and make them want to help-- I didn't really feel it.

Over all it will get the job done but if you have more B-roll it would make a big difference.

And remember... Its easy to be a critic, it hard to actually do it and put it all together. Nothing I wrote here means anything, Im just a guy on the internet.

I have no professional experience in this area... That being said...

Overall i liked the video. I was not confused about the leadership issue mentioned.

I do agree with some of the above comments on lenght of the interviews. I think introducing some more action with transitions would spice it up a bit.
