I had to share these shots. This is amazing: the sum total of ALL the trash left in the exhibitor arena on Monday morning:

And all the recycling people diligently collected (thank you all for your dedication to the environment):

Another fun behind-the-scenes shot. The chaos in the Canter (custom Four Wheel Pop-Up camper belonging to Robert and Martine) after Jonathan of Overland Journal test-drove it:

Martine couldn't stop laughing!

When we left the camp ground on Monday morning, there were about 3 vehicles left. But before we left, we walked around the camp ground to pick up trash. We ended up with about the same amount that's pictured above. ...and most of the trash that we picked up, we noticed was really weathered. It had obviously been there for long before the Expo!

Overland Expo was a blast. Some of my pics:

First time I got to see a FliPac; I was really impressed with the quality

Probably my favorite rig, a Brute with a fourwheel camper;

One thing I did not take a picture of and which actually positively surprised me was the Afrispoor trailers. Looked very well made and functional to me.

This quad belongs to a couple from Quebec who travels with their dog per quad and trailer (quad pulling the trailer, not the quad being pulled on a trailer) from Quebec to Baja. Really cool. As soon as I find their business card again I will post a link.

BTW, thanks for the hospitality and the  Pat, Jim and Petr :D

What surprised me was how many rigs, not just this Camel 110, were trailered in. Somehow contradicts the Overlanding theme.

While the participants of the Expo went ahead to enjoy their BBQ, I took off for a scenic drive. I ended up driving through Box Canyon, which was very pretty.

I guess it was the first time that rental car was off the pavement :D

Our campsite at Mountainview; you can't smell our neighbors in the pic --- take my word for it, very unsanitary...

Campsite at the Kenyon Ranch next to the horse stables; smelled much much better...

What a great thread. I think I speak for all those who could not attend when I say thanks to eveyone who has shared their pictures and stories. Now I need to go get a mop to clean the drool up off my key board.

Trevor,
Overland Expo is to us what Mecca is to a Muslim, what Israel is a Jew, or Graceland to an Elvis fan. One must make the journey at least once to feel complete.

The brave and dauntless staff at Kristofer's Bistro who kept the coffee flowing, the wraps wrapping, and water in the dog bowls.
Well done, Charles & Jessie, well done.
