Hi all!

I will be in Palm Springs California on Friday November 10th to attend the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association Expo. Since I'll already be in California I was wondering if any of you live near Palm Springs or know of some good wheeling in the area. My plans are not solid yet, but I am thinking of camping out Friday night and exploring on Saturday.
Anyone who wants to go play, explore and find some adventure, let me know!:088:

Brian, I will be watching this thread for more info, I may be down for this trip. It will all depend on how things are going, and if I have Ellesha or not.

A few weeks ago we spent a couple of weekends in the National forest around Idyllwild of off 74 and 243. Some really nice camping up in the mountains (5000-8000ft), good hiking opportunities also. Easy forest roads mostly.

Don't know the schedule for November yet, but that area is only 1.5-2h from us (so is Palm Springs) so I'll keep following this thread and may come out for a quick weekend.

ditto

(If you haven't already made arrangements yet i can recommend a great place to stay while you are in palm springs... http://www.moviecolonyhotel.com/ small, comfortable, clean and quaint Albert Frey designed hotel with super cool, UNpretentious staff)

That's relatively close to the Hammer trails (Sledge, Claw, Jack), AKA Johnson Valley BLM OHV area. While best known for rock crawling, there are miles of high speed routes available if your into that. Some fun dunes too!

Last time I was there I ran Outer Limits - one hell of a trail.

Yes, the Hammers are close. Watched a Jeep guy play there once and played ourselves on one of those big dunes close by. This would be to the north of Josuha tree.

There is also Big Bear (a little crowded for my taste).

We also know cool trails out east of Indio.

Plenty of stuff within 1-2h from Palm Springs.

Brian,

I'll join you and whomever else. Though I'm only about an hour and a half away, I've never gone wheeling around PS...so whereever you decide to go is okay with me.

Great Vince!
It will be fun to see you again.

I just solidified some meetings for Friday November 10th so I will definitely be going to Palm Springs. I figure I will camp out friday night, somewhere,
and then explore on Saturday then drive home saturday evening.

Where --- well we'll all figure that out!

This is a short 2 hour hop over/through Anza for me.........

I'll watch this thread.

Last time I was out in Anza I saw a sign that said something like 16 miles to Palm Desert so off I went thinking it would be cool to go. The trail pretty much pettered out into a creek bed. Never made it all the way. This was the first of about four water crossings that got deeper each time. The last one crossed at an oblique angle that took you through about 40 yards of creek. Sure glad I didn't get stuck.

I am refering to the town of Anza.........

Which is due East of Temecula......

Which is the short cut highway route for San Diego North County residents to sneak into Palm Springs.

Very Scenic coming down the mtn. (on standard highway road) with views across the desert!

.....did somebody say....."Scenic":friday: >?!!!!!!!!!!!

.

And that right there is why I keep Florida tags on my truck. I can get away with not knowing where the heck stuff is at!

7wt..........

I'm not pickin' on ya!

I just thought I must not have been clear.

So I was a tryin' to be clear......that's all!

Here's to Florida!!!!!!!!!!:friday: :D :friday:

....and that was a Kewl Pic by the way!!!!!!!!!!!
