Tress,

Congratulations!

It is wonderful to learn the truck is complete and you are underway.

We wish you a safe, fulfilling and rewarding journey.

Hope to meet you down here in SA if we are still around when you get here.

Doug

Good luck. I just went and looked all around your web site, very nice. If you cross through the San Diego area let us know and we can host or at least grill up some food for ya!

I was really impressed at the tear down and build up of the van. Nice, nice work. I hope you two enjoyed your visit to Yellowstone.

I sent an email through your website offering a place to park and dinner if you're route comes through Phoenix. I'm bailing next year for a similar trip and enjoy learning from and about travelers doing the long haul.

Thanks Doug, you have always been a huge help and inspiration, its greatly appreciated:clapsmile
We would of course love to meet up in SA if possible, in fact i was wondering just the other day where you are at. But unfortunately i rather doubt you'll still be around since we plan to be in C. America for at least 6 months. The idea behind all of this was to work with a service organization in Nicaragua that i had worked with in college, so we hope to do that for up to a year. Either way i hope to catch up at some point. Anyways thanks again take care and enjoy the time.

We were only in Yellowstone briefly as we had been before and the tourists were pretty thick. We did hit the hot springs though, where the "boiling river" runs into another much colder one, pretty crazy! However our drive out of the area, just west of Yellowstone heading North in Montana, dont remember the road number, its not the one right next to Yellowstone but the next one over? Anyways it was incredible! And there were a million roads going into national forests and all i could see were these dirt roads, i wanted to hit em so bad, ah man that area is sik.

Actually one of my brothers lives in northern Scottsdale, right on the Tonto National Forest, awesome house! I figured there we a lot of you all in the area, i did a few short 30 40 mile dirt roads up there in my moms Subaru forester and the roads went much much further than i did. I do hope to do something cool when im down there, as of right now Apache Trail is the only thing we have in mind, but im sure that's pretty lame for you guys when it comes to scenic off road. Let me know if you have suggestions, we would love to do a badazz trail.

As for the Sportsmobile, we actually took there DIY floor plan and used that to design our own. If you go to there site they have the design your own floor plan and it has all of there options to scale, so we printed the ones we wanted cut em out, scanned em in, and then made a friend work out the details LOL! No but it worked out far better than we ever expected it would, but only time will tell how good a job we really did som im going to keep my fingers crossed for a while...

Oh and if anyone knows of any decent mechanics in AZ we plan to have the van worked on before we head south of the border. Or if any of you do side work we always open to whatever, thanks.
