I'm looking to replace the panhard bar busching on my 01 4Runner. The current one is old and worne out. I can hear it clunking all over the place every time I'm driving.

Can anyone help me out with a part number for either a Toyota replacement, or even a energy suspension replacement; or better yet a link to buy one? Also, I would love to know what Toyota calls the "Panhard" because the local parts department can't figure out what it is I'm looking for. - Last time they came back with sway bar buschings.....

I found this link for energy suspension busching replacement for a track bar busching on a second gen 4runner but I wasn't sure if it would be the same part:

I also found this energy supension track bar busching replacement for 4th gen 4Runners:

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance,

Josh

It might eb referred to as a track bar, and I called both Daystar and Energy suspension for you, neither carry that bushing for your generation 4R. Sorry, its likely to be a dealer part.

Thanks. I also Called energy suspension yesterday. I'm willing to bet that the part form an earlier model fits. I might make the plunge and just spend the $12 for the bushing for a 2nd gen.

I have a feeling it might not be a replaceable part. Here are links to Toyota part #s and a schematic.

Part number list

http://www.toyotapartszone.com/Page...e=False&componentsID=48-04&componentsIndex=50

Schematic

http://www.utoyot8.com/FullImage.aspx?ccId=411896871&ppId=377407206&ppInfo=(9511-++++)

It's best to open 2 windows and impose the schematic over the # list.

Note that there is no bushing shown or listed for the panhard, just the bar, nut, bolt, washer. Also, in Sonoran Steel's description, it is mentioned that the factory bush/sleeve is a pressed in affair which leads me to think it might never have been designed to be replaced. E mail Steve at Sonoran. He can probably tell you for sure. We are friends and I can tell you he won't BS you to try to sell you a bar. The small amount he makes on them is not worth the headache he might encounter by trying to fool someone.

I see the replacement from Toyota is $177 vs the $175 for Sonoran so it might be worth getting the Sonoran product. Check with Steve though. He can tell you:
1) if your current bar can be fixed
2) if his bar is rebuildable for later down the road (as I don't know, I'm a first gen guy)

I understand why you are hoping for a $12 fix instead of a $150 plus fix. Also, shop that panhard part # around, as that Partszone site is not the cheapest I have found, just the one with cool schematics.

The OEM bar is not rebuildable without a great amount of work. It would have cost me more to have new buschings put in then to buy the Sonoran steel bar. So that's what I ended up with. And really, its a nice piece. The buschings are poly and allow for more articulation. Its also larger in diameter for strength and its even finished very nicely. 175 isn't a bad price at all for what you get with the bar. I recomend it to anyone with a loose track bar.
