Hey everyone, new guy checking in.

(above this was my look for a few years)

I'm over at TheNewX and an active member of Southern California Club Xterra with my 2006 Xterra Off-road. I'm into camping and find a reason year 'round to get out of Dodge and enjoy the area. We go two or three times a month in the winter months and at least once a month in the summer when the weather gets hot and the social calendar gets busy.

I run all the national parks around SoCal from Anza Borrego up to the Yosemite and as east as the Mojave and Bradshaw trails. We like dry camping to get away from the crowds. Recently we've run the Mojave Trail from the AZ/NV border back to Soda Lake, ran the Bradshaw Trail twice, did a four day/three night Death Valley trip, and the Starbright/Blacks Canyon trail north of Barstow/south of Goldstone Comm Center.

(above is my current look)

I'm a retired US Navy Master Chief Petty Officer after 24 years as an Interior Communications Electrician. I currently work for the Department of Defense as an IT project engineer designing entertainment radio and television systems. I've been married to my wife for nearing 24 years, we have no kids and recently our dog passed away. She was constant companion on our many trips and she had likely +180 days camping with us.

My little car is a 35th Anniversary 350Z so that gives me the Z to go with the X for Xterra. The Z is a pampered garage queen that gets taken out to play on sunny days a couple of times a month.

The Xterra has been fully Shrocked with skids, sliders, front and rear bumpers and a rear differential guard. I use ICON vehicle dynamics 2.5" struts up front and a PRG 2.5" shackle and mini-pack back aft for a 3" lift front and rear. Tires are KM2's over MB 72's. The bumper holds a MileMarker SE 12000 winch. As an amateur radio operator (extra class) I keep a Yaesu FT-8800 and matching antenna on the Xterra. I often venture out alone so I have redundancy built in with two batteries, two GPS systems, and two spare tires.

My other hobbies include photography and video. I use to make a living (a long time ago) editing video tape and still enjoy shooting video and pictures. I'm a rifle target shooter of some accomplishment and can hit what I can see and own a number of semi-automatic and bolt action rifles.

Hope to sit around and enjoy the chatting and share what I know and learn something too.

Welcome to Expo Paul! Love the new tire/wheel combo, it looks good with the color of your X and different from all of the ProComps everyone runs.

Nice set up. Where do you have the second battery mounted?
