Adventurer
The easter long weekend has come and gone once again this year. so it was easy to decide what to do with 4 days off work. well 4.5 really, got off at 2pm thrusday!! win win
We went from perth to barlee lake and back, a nice little jaunt into the outback. pretty empty, jsut the way I perfer it.
Overall we travelled a distance of 1358kms return.
I was able to eek out 1063kms to my main tank, which is 132L in size. but the drving was 70% highway tyres at 40psi, then 25% with tyres at 28psi and 5% at 20psi/low range 4wd
the wagon is like normal, basically moving at 90kmh down the highway nearing gvw in weight, 12.4L per 100kms driven.
Now I guess onto our story, no one really cares about the figures. Haha.
It all begins with a run to the bottle shop, lets face facts. we were off and running by about 5pm thrusday night. which isnt to bad, took about 2 hours to pack and roll.
no real photos of the drive out, since it was dark.
Camping the first night at Meckering
Brekky:
The next morning we check out the local history, there was a 6.9 earthquake that rocked few ages ago.
Here is the fault line, now I know it might not look to exciting to most, but really. the earths crust has thrust up 2.5m here. how much power would that have required. impressive.
Further down the highway, which follows the golden pipeline which supplies the outback with water, which for info takes water 4-13 days to get to kalgoorlie form perth.
We stopped at the remains of pump station 3:
Then the good part came, heading north to Mt. elvire. our goal of the trip.
moving along the farm land:
Then the road quickly moved to jsut a dirt track. excellent. this means the adventure can start. lets drop the tyres down to 28psi to eat up the bumps.
Camp for night 2, in the aurora ranges. very nice area. good camping, a few bugs. but not bad. a few drinks were had, even some light testing of the spotties to see how good they are. they are good. trust me.
view from camp:
The next day we woke up early and hit the road, made good time, a few small mud holes. nothing major,
And of course, like on every trip you must stop and hard park and take photos:
Then we came across old mine shafts, ages old. early 1900's when people started moving out to collect there fortunes.
didnt get a good shot of this due to collapsing sides:
Next thing we knew we had covers a 150 or so kms and ended up at the mount Elvire homestead, abandoned now.
The "Stig" well that man gets everywhere.
We climbed the "Mountain" haha. which was a good drive, had to drop to 20psi for that as it was steep and loose rocks.
view was stunning:
