PIC Microcontrollers???

Does anyone have any experience programming PIC's?

I am in need of some guidance on bootloader software.

What's up with it? I havn't done one for a LONG time but would be interested in hearing what your problem is. There might even be a long shot that I could help... :D

OOPS.... I thought that I responded already.

:coffee: A little history first....

4 years ago, I took a grad class that used microcontrollers. I built a table that was controlled by 2 servos and an accelerometer. The table would remain almost flat regardless of the tilt in the base. It output the angle of the base to a computer through a serial port. I am not a computer or electronics guy, but given enough manuals, data sheets, and friends that do this kind of stuff... I can waste allot of time.

Anyway, I was thinking that I would like to evetually have a positive pressure system for my camper. But, not just any possitive ressure system.....

Here is where I risk showing what I don't know.

1.

I thought I would thermostatically control the fans speed using a Pulse Width Modulated FET. That way I can control the fan speed based on shell air temperature. When driving, the fans will run at full speed, but when camping, they will run at the minimum necessary to cool the shell, thus saving battery life.

2.

Multiple temperature sensors and an LCD screen to tell me the temperatures.

3.

Serial out, through a USB adapter, to my laptop.

4.

If I am feeling funky.... RC car servo actuators to open my vents.

5.

If I am feeling super funky.... accelerometers and pressure sensor.... to measure tilt, bounce, and atmospheric pressure/altitude.

Oh yeah,

my bootloader question.

I am trying to find a boatloader software to activate the serial port so I don't have to buy a programming board.

I was thinking of using either a:

PIC18LF4550
or
PIC16F877A
