G'day all... picked up a Navara (frontier) tub for the right price.. free!
I want to make a trail trailer to match my patrol, the only problem i have and you can see from the pics, the tub stops just infont of the wheel arch and i think will look strange so im thinking of making tapered storage box to go infront of it on the frame.

anyway here some pics...

The plans will include either a canvas canopy or hard tonneau cover, roof top tent etc

Nice! I found the only way to make them look complete is to fab a nice tounge box. I think your on the right track there. Keep us posted on progress!

You might try a full size in bed tool box like the fifth wheel haulers use in the bed of the truck - can even get them with a built in fuel tank to add some weight to the front. I have a old courier bed trailer that I want to fix up eventually & the full size tool box for my F350 is almost the same width as the outside edge of the courier bed. saves a lot of fab time & probably some money as their massed produced in a wide range of sizes & build quality.

I used a F/S truck box to make my toungue box too. I just noticed your in the land down under lol. IDK how it is down there, or if your dead set on using the truck bed. But up here that bed is fairly rare and worth a great chunk of $$. I'd bet a body shop would pay $1000 for one that nice. One could sell it and the funds would go a long way on building a M416/chasser style trailer.

Yeah the land down under! These navara tubs are a dime a dozen here, most sell for around $300

I would LOVE a ex military trailer but unlike for what seems the case for the folks in the states these trailers are hard to come by and worth fairly big $$$$! although i have heard of people picking up free ones but you would have to be bloody lucky!

The main reason im building this trailer is for hauling fire wood, trail clean up days etc. hence the budget!

The location of the wheel openings is going to make it difficult to load correctly. You are definately going to need a box on the front to get some more weight up there.
