Pictures of RTT on Trailer with add on room

Does anyone have pictures of different styles of RTT's with the add on rooms mounted on a trailer? I really like the globetrotter, but would like a tent with more room. I really like the family size easi awn but would like to have the room off the side but wondering what people do with the extra length from not being on a roof. It is a lot of money to spend when I am not sure what it would look like. Any help would be great.

The add on rooms really need head room to make them work. On most trailers the tent base is going to be at chest height, making a functional room difficult.

Your options are really either the Globetrotter http://www.adventuretrailers.com/globetrotter.html or the trailer tent from Camping Lab http://www.campinglab.com/serengeti02.html

You should carry that camping lab tent. I really like the size. Have you heard any good or bad things about it? The globetrotter just does not see large enough.

No need to carry the trailer tent, our good friend Fernando does at Camping Lab. :)

I'm very familiar with the brand, I know the owner Jan Marais and have visited with him in Paarl, South Africa. He makes a good product. His trailer tent has the same size Queen size bed as the Globetrotter, and the ground room is 82.5" x 82.5" vs. the Globetrotters ground room of 83" x 63"

My own personal experience with trailer tents is that they are great if you intend to set up base camps, but putting them up and taken them down is a pain.

The Globetrotter gives you the ability to set up either:
The tent by itself
The tent and the awning
The tent the awning and 1,2,3, or 4 walls.

So it is much more versatile

the camping lab looks the best for a tent with room that will work well ?

I take it you already have a trailer ?

I can say I love having a room off the side for late night emergency potty for the kids and also for getting ready in the morning with a buddy heater and be nice and warm

sine mine was designed as part of the trailer/tent its more like the camping lab than a add on room you zip on and off ?

but having a bug proof floor and a clean floor I think is a big big bonus the way I camp
I can see the downside if it was really muddy though as the bottom would have to get rinsed off first !
mine has a way you clip the floor up before you put it away so you can clean it off though ? but would be a pain

so the upsides outweigh the downsides I think for a attached floor

here are a few pics just to show you a room that is made as part of the RTT setup on a trailer

I dont have a trailer yet. I would like to build one, but for the cost of the camping lab it could be work going with the conqueror compact instead. I am just not a fan of the dry weight. I want to be able to take it through some really rough terrain and I dont know if I can do that with the conqueror.

if you dont have a trailer I think you would be hard pressed to go wrong with a compact if you want a room style RTT !!!!

I would say look at the video of the compact in south africa :) and also look how rough south africa can be !!!! tallest peaks in the world and some of the harshest stuff also ? good testing ground really :)

2500-3000 for a rtt with a room and or a complete trailer for 5k !! man thats hard to go wrong

the compacts are pretty proven down in south africa also ! so they have a very good track record

as the weight goes ? I have to get my conquest on the scales
dry weight of a compact is 400kg yet others here say its the way they weigh them ?

the weight thing I think until someone gets it on the scale the guesses are just that ? unless I missed that someone did ?

also weight with tent etc.. I dont think is going to be so far above others out there I just dont see how it can be the way they are built ?

the only downside I can see is that the compact wont fit a family of 4 up top :)

I've had my Conqueror through some pretty snotty terrain; the Jeep complained but never stopped moving.
Any trailer at all makes the technical parts more challenging. I'd put the Conqueror well behind AT or Sherpa for "trail friendly" ----- but it certainly ain't no Winnebago! It does come with the best tent and an enhanced civility.
Just take it up the milder trails, leave it, and come back for grilled steak at dinner time.

It is sooooooooooo tempting. Does anyone know of anyone in Utah that has one? It is hard to spend that much money without being able to see it in person.

There is only ONE Conqueror Compact left in the inventory in Atlanta. If you want one at the killer deal, you better move quickly.
Just an FYI.

Thanks

I don't know of anyone here in Utah with a Conqueror. There are many things I like about their trailers, but the weight is a big drawback in my mind. Especially if you are thinking about using it in rough terrain, a trailer can quickly become an anchor. Weight is your enemy. Also for me the Conqueror is cumbersome in regards to the tent. I have no first hand experience with their tents, but from what I can gather, the materials of the tent are very high-quality and I really like the size of the tent (I could stand up in it) and that the add-on room allows you to enter the tent while protected from the elements. I think it would be ok if I were setting up a basecamp and staying there for multiple days. But the kind of travel I plan on is more of the camp one night and move again to a new place the next day. The ease of an eezi-awn setting up in a couple minutes vs 15-20min for the Conqueror tent is much more appealing for that kind of travel. Of course you give up some room with the eezi-awn unless you go with the family size one, but the convenience is far superior in my book.

So, IF I wasn't already building my own trailer, and IF I could afford to purchase one for my style of travel, it would undoubtedly be an Adventure Trailer over the Conqueror. Like I said, there are many attractive features on the Conqueror, but the tent is "not-so-bueno" for the reasons I mentioned and the weight is the big turn-off. I haven't compared the Compact to the AT, so they may be closer in weight, but regardless of that I like the features of the AT better if I were buying a trailer.

Of course, my homemade trailer isn't even in the same galaxy for quality and features as either one of those options, but you're more than welcome to come by and check it out sometime if it gives you ideas if you decide to build one. I'm not done yet, but my guess is that I'll probably be into my trailer about $1500. That is without a RTT, fridge and other gear. Just the trailer. At least for a cost comparison.
