I’m new to Expedition Portal and looking forward to learning from the community. I’m in the early stages of planning my first overland setup and wanted to get some input before I start buying parts.
Right now I’m focused on:
Vehicle reliability and maintenance first
Suspension and tires suitable for mixed highway/off-road use
Simple storage and sleeping solutions (nothing extreme yet)
Power, water, and basic recovery gear
This will mostly be used for weekend trips and longer road-based travel, not hardcore rock crawling. I’m trying to keep things practical, lightweight, and serviceable.
I’d appreciate any advice on what to prioritize early, common mistakes to avoid, and gear that has proven reliable for you. Photos or build threads are welcome I’m here to learn.Thanks in advance, and glad to be here.
