We are joining some old friends to stroll across Borneo ( in a 4x4) following the equator.

We shipped the truck a couple of months ago to Jakarta. Arrived safe and sound .
The truck is now on ferry heading to Borneo, we will see it tomorrow, and load to head into the jungle in few days.
Spending the day helping local school teachers with students studying English was great fun, so glad there is no spelling involved.

We are now well under way, so very little internet. Not sure if any of the pics will load.
The last couple of days. Following the equator as best we can. Dozens of winches toms of fun in the jungle. And two rivers crossings.
Great food , great new friends and catching up with some old ones. Life is good.

That green defender looks like it's running on slicks ?. I last visited Jakarta in 1995 when I used to work there from time to time. The roads at that point would have killed those tyres!

A quick bit of back ground about the expedition, and I don't use the word lightly.
Ten years ago some mates of mine did a similar trip East to West. As far as we know there had not been a trip West to East following the Equator, trying to stay plus minus one degree.
It took a number years to get the necessary land permissions from , public, logging lease and villages.
The trip was invitation only for international participants. Jim and I where very fortunate to have been given the nod to go.

Vehicles where set up expertly for the roughly 1800 KLM (1100 Miles) trip. Shipped via the ferry system form Java ( Main Island where the capitol Jakarta is) to Pontianak on the West side of Kallamantan. Quick note about doing this, REMOVE the winch lines, the deckies ( deck hands) like to pinch the hooks.
Stay at a hotel for a few days and meet our travel companions.
