portable tankless hot water shower heater?

anyone have any experience with this hot water shower heater that runs off propane? was thinking of buying for my CDN M101 camping trailer. $129.00 and heats hot to 150F if anyone could stand that, and heats 1 gallon per minute. Heck my on board hot water shower heat system I bought to run off my coolant lines was almost 3 times that much $$$. Any comments? Pros, cons? measures 15" x 12" x 4.5"

Thanks
Rob

I was considering the same thing, but I am concerned if it is permanently installed on a trailer with limited exposure to the elements plus the trauma inflicted on it by rough trails, will it hold up? The different models I have seen do not look very rugged. Does anybody have one of these mounted on their trailer?

Cheers,
Greg

You'll have to provide your own way to pressurize the water.. It's just a water heater with a shower head on it.. The Amazon link has the heater packaged with a pump for $185.. Still seems like a good deal..

from the reviews from folks that bought of amazon, it got great reviews, check the pics where one guy has mounted on back swing out door of his looks like 80 series Landcruiser or something like that. I am goin to give it a try and either mount it in my CDN M101 trailer or make it where it hangs beneath my RTT

ive been looking at this for a bit.. i was thinking of building my own heater (gasman ) thats what i do.. i was gonna scavenge some parts and rig somthin up but these units are pretty well packaged.. i am liking the colman unit as well but its more money, and the colman can be used for potable water ,makin coffee and stuff so that is a bonus... my question to you guys is . why do you want to attach them to your rigs ..what are the advantages/ disadvantages ? wouldn't the ground around your trailer /rig get all muddy and crap how do you deal with that ? i think a porta privy type tent far away from the rigs would be the way i go.. so wouldn't mounting it suck in that situation..

Apparently you don't have a wife or girlfriend that travels with you. To maintain sanity of all involved, a hot shower adjacent to the tent is desirable. A portable enclosure would be used for privacy, but putting a heavy propane tank, the heater, and other paraphernalia a distance from the trailer would be a hassle. Just position it away from the RTT/ladder, and there shouldn't be a problem with mud.

I was thinking of using this shower system with a 15 gallon tank. You can buy the tanks with an on demand pump, press the trigger and heater lights off and it makes my wife happy :victory:

They say ignorance is bliss, so I am blissful.

Anyhow, would you have to have a water feed more than gravity would produce. In other words, do you have to have some sort of pressure level that would require energy?

I am definitely in the market for a potti / shower enclosure and heated water would be nice. I have the room....

Thanks in advance, Steve

My understanding is that the tankless water heaters are just that (a heater only). Therefore a water source is needed and it would need to be passed through the unit with a pump or under pressure.

I just ordered one from this site:

http://www.productsthatsave.com/ptsl5.html

for $117 shipped I dont think you can beat it. I have a RTT with a shower enclosure, and wife and daughter so it is necessary. It will hang from under the RTT, and I have built a wooden platform to stand on while taking shower (made of teak, bought from boat surplus yard a teak boat swim platform and then I will put down a heavy piece of vinyl under it so mud doesnt splash up, platform is about 3' x 2' in size. I dont have an onboard water tank at this time and dont know if I will but I have 5 gallon scepter water tanks? Google "Eccotemp L5" which is what this model is and the only portable on, and read about it, alot of info about this unit there and how it operates.

apparently i do.. i am a single dad with 2 count em 2 daughters 15 and 19 then there is the girlfriend and her 2 daughters.. 19 and 12 soooo thats me 1 guy and 5 women.. when they all come camping.. it can be draining so if i have 5 women showering beside the tent its gonna make a mess.. if each one is showering for a couple of minutes.. and 2 of them have really long hair. so the shower puts out a couple of gallons per minute . my trailer would be washed away there would be mud everywhere.. .. i will set up the shower further away thanx.. now personally i dont need a shower i have no problem cleaning up in the lakes or river when its just me and the boys as long as there aint no ice left on the lake im good.. went in once a week after ice out.. jumped off the dock. what an idiot i am, the water was so cold it hurt..

no the reason im looking into shower options is because i want to keep my girls comffortable and i want them to continue to camp with me for a long time to come..
