I made the below post at BenzW unimog section but thought it could be useful here. Although I assume there is probably enough cross contamination.
Several people have nice temperature gauges for the portals.
I was researching and found this pretty nice 6 channel unit with lcd readout, backup battery.
Yes indeed it is a meat thermometer with additional Bluetooth.
I measured the probes and they are normal ntc resistors.
At 79F they are 60 kohm. In case you want to adapt to to a better form format for the application. Would be nice to use earphone plugs with an angle outlet.
6 channel is nice for 4 portals, one diff and transmission.
Has a magnet so it clamps to steel.
Display 3-1/4* 1-3/4. Character size 3/8 to 7/16" high. Housing 4-3/4*2-3/4* 7/8 thick.
Backlight can be ON all the time..
Temp range 32f to716 f or 0-380c
I did not try any of the alarm or Bluetooth feature because they are not important to me.
