I am going to convert some of my cig lighter powered accessories to powerwerks power poles.
I have a crimper, do I need the Powerwerx TRIcrimp tool?
Thanks.

What kind of crimper do you have Anderson powerpole's are fairly particular with their crimps. If you have the standard automotive 3 size crimper it is not enough and I would recommend buying the tri crimp or another power pole comparable crimper I would also buy all of the dies for it. You will find you need them sooner or later.

Agree with @undisider, don't use the crush crimpers in those do everything wire tools.

The crimp shape I think is basically a standard Molex 'F' but the depth is longer. So if you have Molex dies for your crimper you might be able to do adequate crimps. It'll take two crimps of the same size to do it. Normally Molex will have two sizes, one on the wire and slightly larger one on the insulation. For PowerPoles you don't crimp the terminal on the wire insulation but the length of the wire crimp is doubled.

But if you want to remove any doubt the TRIcrimp isn't that expensive and there's no guesswork on the right shape and size for PP15/30/45 terminals.

The extra set of dies are handy but this kit costs more than the crimper, so justification for it could be tough. They have dies for typical red/blue/yellow terminals you see all over the place and these produce high quality crimps. There's also dies for next size up Andersen SB50/PP75, which you might use.
