pre fab bolt on boxes for 3/4 to 1 ton trucks

I feel sure this has been addressed in the past but does anyone make a bolt on (bed removed) box for 3/4 to 1 ton trucks. Is there a market for these? I'm doing some cad cam designs and if i'm going to make one, I might make ten to pay for molds etc... thoughts?

I'm in the market

If your making these boxes PLEASE keep us in the loop. I have been trying to figure out :coffee: how to get an empty "EarthRoamer" style box to place on the back of a truck cab/frame/drive train I already have access to.

There is a local RV salvage yard that I could use as an affordable source for many of the components making this a feasible build. :victory:

I will subscribe to this thread and follow it closely.

Thank-you,
JPH

I have not seen anything like you mention recently. (I think it may have been done back in the 70s or 80s.) I've seen campers that are designed to sit on a flatbed, and full on conversion like the Tiger. Nothing that could simply replace the stock bed except for the contractor/work boxes.

I agree with making it light enough for the 1/2 ton crowd. (Since I'm a part of that crowd. =)

The build I'm doing for my Topkick may present an opportunity for this. My brother's company is doing the boxes for both the camper and the trailer, and if it goes well, he might be interested in doing more of them if he can make it worth his while. While he's a specialist in very large casting and fiberglass projects, my build uses plastic (you read right) honeycomb panels. Volume really helps bring the cost down for the material, and our build/assembly process might require far less time and labor than existing approaches. And the boxes should be fairly indestructible. We'll know in about 4 weeks!

Thanks

:wings: Can't wait to see what everyone brings to the table... Keep the info flowing... Finding a box solution could bump up the reality of this build by about 3 years for me as my job allows time to build but no money for a turnkey Expedition Camper.
