Privacy curtains for van passenger compartment side windows

I have an Econoline based Pleasureway Traverse and want to get some sort of privacy curtains for the driver's and passenger's side windows. About the best I could come up with is cutting some light blocking fabric to shape but slightly larger and using little neodymium magnets to hold it in place (we use those to hold some home made no-see-um screens to the outside during warmer weather).

I saw the heatshield.com makes side window covers that attach with suction cups but the attachment method seems iffy to me.

Any ideas?

That link isn't working, so I can't evaluate that, but as a first pass, you can always just get a roll of Reflectix and cut it slightly oversize, it will stay up just fine with friction fit.

I did this just to get me rolling for a weekend camp out about 3 years ago, and never bothered to finish the curtain system. Still using the same sheets to this day (in ALL my windows). Someday I'll finish sewing the curtains...

That is exactly what happened on our Van, curtain material bought, Reflectix 2years and going strong....
I accidentally left the reflectix on the popout side window and got on the freeway doing 75MPH, the next exit seemed forever due to the noise mother nature made trying to pull it out. We laughed an decided the reflextix really wanted to be our curtains and obliged. If cut properly no eyes get in at all, even a single layer does a good job on heat from morning sun (important if you did not go to bed much before that :ylsmoke:).

Suction cups work sometimes, not reliable enough for me............

I've got Reflectix I'd cut out for the other windows with a press fit but I didn't want it shiny side out for the driver's and passenger's windows. What I decided to try is stapling some gray fabric on the street side and making a couple more window covers with the roll of Reflectix that was left over. It *should* work fine. The rest of the van has curtains.

Hi CSG did your traverse not come with aq wrap curtain for the front? Mine is same year has curtains for everywhere..
I also have cut reflectix for all my windows for hot weather times, I cut them to fit tighyly and pressure fit. the stay in fine after a year so far. I also have screens with magnets for the front windows like you lol

There was/is a curtain that fits on velcro tabs above the windshield but it doesn't have fitments to wrap it around the side windows.

Exactly. I'd talked to Phil at PW about it some years back and he seemed surprised. There is no evidence that anything was removed.

Screw in snaps w ould be a very simple fix. Im torn on the reflectix idea front windows as it would negate me for using my skeeter beeter front window screens.
But I could could see they could come in handy once in awhile ..

Well, interestingly, I found the PW cab privacy curtain that was part of the original package. I gave Phil another call to ask about the Velwashers they used across the windshield. He told me the pillar velcro was stick on and not screwed in. I happened to have some strips of Velcro and cut six pieces to fit on the PW curtain and mounted it. Not perfect but it's a start. I also ordered the Adco outside covers from Amazon.

Gtdad, I feel ya'. I have homemade no-see-um screens for the driver and passenger side and they are a Godsend in bug weather.

Great! I like the adco cover as well it would be a "godsend" for those hot days.
I dont have the rear door ac like yours so I really appreciate airflow. I have some 12v computer fans that Im going mod for aome airflow in the skinny rear flip up glass. Also was thinking of adding a fan to the fridge coils ,I have read it really cuts power draw cycle's down.

I've had the Fantastic Fan portable fan for a few years. I've never been able to set it so it really helps a lot on those warm days. I've been debating a roof mounted one but there's no going back once you cut the vent hole in the fiberglass top. While Fantastic Fan makes a clamp on model for A-liners that's available at a couple places, there's probably a pretty good reason why PW thought better of putting one in the Traverse. It sure would be nice though.
