Quartzsite AZ gas and CEL

Everytime I drive from Phnx to LA and I stop to get gas in Quartzsite AZ. or just east of State line my CEL light comes on right after I pull way from the pump. I dissconnect the battery in LA and then it comes on again when I fill up on the way home. I also think my mpg tanks a bit too, but not sure. What gives? Doesnt happen going anywhere else, Flag, LV, etc..

I got gas there once, but my light was already on. Just put some electrical tape over the light :wings:

bad gas causing detonation? Would that explane the loss of mpg too?

It could be emissions system related i.e. the gas cap.

I got gas at the ARCO in Quartzite a couple of days ago and didn't have any problems with it.

When the pumps stops, don't put anymore gas in it. If you try to get an even dollar amount, you may be putting too much fuel into the system and it may be passing into the EVAP control (i.e. pump, canister, lines, etc...). This would cause a CEL and is responsible for most EVAP system failures. In the mean time, I would get the light scanned at a local parts store just to see what it is. Hope this helps...
