questions about a ute conversion

I have been trying to get a basic cost together for converting a T100 into a ute. I was wondering if anyone has done a ute conversion and about what it cost.
Thanks

Ute ?
Meaning you propose exchanging a T-100 with loadbin for a tray ?
Trays are common things, new and used. Prices widely vary
yeah thats what I was thinking, the tray with fold down sides, maybe add a locker, paint , and alift.

Are you planning on building or buying the tray? I believe these are north of $2k just for the tray, but they are aluminum and maybe less utility than overlander cool.

All that stuff is an aluminum extrusion, could probably fab it together yourself.

Or even find some scrap scaffolding planks.

Trays are fundamentally fairly simple but a nice one is all about the fabricator.

Nice, but looks heavy.

I just ran a stump down the side of my bed....it isn't too terrible, but it stares at me every time I walk out to my truck, that and the other huge dent my buddy put in it when he borrowed my truck and trailer...how he jack knifed it into my bedside is beyond me...

Anyways with that, considering flat bedded it rather than fixing the dents. I have been looking at different materials...hmmm, betcha those aluminum bleachers at the ball park would work...hmmm... :D

Indeed @Clutch, I bet that one I linked is heavy being all steel. But on a Hilux with 2,000 kg of payload I guess a bloke doesn't gotta worry, eh?

FWIW, a Ute Bed goes about 280 lbs in a Tacoma size, mid length size (6'8" long, 6'0" wide) while the stock bed with (on my 2nd gen anyway) fiberglass inner bed is about 350 I think. Your 1st gen is probably similar. So that's a potential +/- 50 lbs of GVWR recovered and you get half a foot more length and a totally flat floor.

Of course if you do a 500 lbs steel tray that's lost and some. :-( So you gotta be mindful of what you do.

Im thinking about doing this exact same thing with my regular cab long bed '95 T100.

also he says the ute bed weighs 100 lbs less,
I was told Old man emu does not fit the T100. I was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for about 2 to 21/2 inch lift the T100. I have already contacted Deaver to get a quote for a rear pack.
Thanks
