rain diverter & adhesive?

I'm using a Jeep TJ as a camper and sleeper (don't ask -- it's small, and solo is the way to go). The big beef-du-jour with it is rain running down the roof and open rear hatch window and pouring into the jeep. Like a rain catchment system for your head and food supply.

So a flexible plastic gasket spanning across the top of the window and the hard top roof would be great. There's a good slot right at the hinges.

Any suggestions about flexible, durable sheet plastic and a good adhesive?

When ever I seal anything thats going see a lot of water I use mastic.

Don't mean to bring this back from the dead, but I'm in the same position as SteveO and wondered if he ever found a solution.

I hate reinventing the wheel.
