Ordered a new Ranger last night, sales rep went to input into Fords ordering system, won’t accept the order. Notice from Ford says entire engine production being diverted for engine replacements. Notice says defective tool at engine plant incorrectly machined area of rear main seal for production in late 2022 as well as 2023. Allows seals to leak. No information about duration of the diversion.

I smell something here...
We had to wait a year and a half for a Bronco after we ordered it because among other things they couldn't get hardtops.
They had no problem placing the order, Ford doesn't assign a VIN and actually get serious about building it until they know they have all the parts.
So yeah, your order shouldn't have had any issue going thru and sitting there until they got whatever this engine shortage thing ironed out if it even actually exists.
