I don't know why I was thinking of this recently, but the HEMTT thread reminded me of really cool vehicles that would be fun to make campers out of, but would make really terrible expeidition rigs. Probably even really terrible campers in general.
But I still think they're neat, like these.
I've always thought a double-decker would be so cool, with an entire upstairs bedroom suite. But it would totally suck, because there's only like 5-9" of headroom up there, and at 50 mph max, and totally top heavy, it would never go anywhere (except the racetrack, which was my original idea).
The articulated buses are also neat. But their length prevents the use of a trailer, so I couldn't tow a race car to the track (get the sense of the theme here?). And of course it would be hopeless in any sort of expedition.
Anyone have any other candidates? Bigfoot with a truck camper? Anything featured as a project car on Top Gear?
