Rear Leaf Spring?'s 2004 Quigley E350

Hi guys. I have decided to go with the cheap option and buy some non-custom rear leaf springs for my 2004 Quigley E350 van. I weighed my van and the rear axle comes in at 5,650lbs, 2,825 per spring. That is loaded up on a trip with full fuel.

The cheap cheap spring choices are:

-3 leaf/1 overload, 2775lbs
-4 leaf/1 overload, 2775lbs
-9 leaf, 3460lbs.

So the lighter springs put me under-sprung by about 100lbs, and the next step-up puts me at over sprung by about 1270lbs. I am looking for opinions on which setup to choose. With the original springs, which I think are the 9 leaf 3,460, my van sucks on washboards. The spring that would allow me to travel faster on washboards would be nice. I do have the Agile RIP kit. I don't plan to tow much if at all, and comfort is big priority with my young crew.

Thanks for any feedback.

I used these Monroe "Coil Overs" in my old E150. I like the concept as you have a coil spring adding some weight capacity. I don't know if they do something like this for the E350. Maybe they cold be added as second set of shock bolted on the outside of the frame like the new F150 since you probably are using wheel spacers or wider axle.

If you're interested in building a "bastard spring pack", F350 rear springs from late 80's to early 90's have more arch than the stock Van. That's the route I went for both a little lift and slightly more spring rate. If you need more, add another spring. It's a PITA but well worth the outcome for little money out.

It's that a direct bolt in?

I did order the 4 leaf/+1 overload, 2775lbs set-up. Came from Rock Auto lighting fast. Next week I'll be installing them and also a rear sway bar from Hellwig. I'll post up how I like the results. The center pin is a nut and bolt, so I may keep a few leafs out of the original packs if I ever want to beef up the new packs. I got new U-bolts and nuts from Quigley, they knew just what I needed and their prices were in line with everybody else.

I did this..but I cut the eyes off the main leaf and added the entire 4 leaf pack to my existing main leaf of the long body Ford fan. Added 4in to the saggy rear end..took the sway out of the back end and significantly improved the ride with some 2.0 fox shocks!! She rides amazing..pics in my build thread

BRP, wanted to follow up and see how everything turned out with the new leaf springs. Think my rear springs are shot and looking to do something, just not sure what. Is your van the EB or standard? What if anything are you carrying on the bumper? Thanks
