Rear storage boxes (closed) for Land-Rover series II through 2016 defender

I posted this on Defender Source as well but I want to pick the brains here too. The long title is because other than Series I, the wear width is the same on Land-Rovers.

I was all set to pick up four of those wolf pack boxes for the back of my truck. Then I realized that they are too wide to run two wide. I currently use (what’s left of) four McKesson delivery boxes. They did (barely) survive Africa but are certainly a “disposable” option.

Pros of the Mc boxes are: cheap, light and easy to get.
Cons: low durability, no dust seal (interleaved top) and tapered sides waste a bit of space. They stack okay but the upper box can slide around relative to the lower one.

I run these two across and two high in the back. That ends up about flush with the top of the fridge. I strap them down with a ratchet strap to the airline seating rails that run full length in the back.

All that background out of the way, I’m looking for four “new” boxes for this location. I want to go two wide and two high, same configuration as now. I’d like straight sides and secure stacking. I really like water sealed but at least must be dust sealed. Reasonable cost preferred but I’ll consider anything.

Let’s see/hear what you’ve got…

I may have located some suitable boxes. Lids are not attached, so if I go for them, I may add a lanyard to keep the lid close by.

But I wanted to show you all this: like many here, I have the airline seat rails in the rear of my truck. Probably since 2005/6 time frame. And the little loops that click in to attach a ratchet strap hook (or bungee- whatever) wherever you want. Of course, every time the hook is used in the loop, without fail, the hook falls out before you can tension the strap. At least one of them and sometimes both! Grrrrr!

I have developed some ninja moves to reduce this, but now I have a proper solution... behold:

1100-pound WLL rating and the rings are sewn directly to the straps. Less bulk than the old way too.

"Assembled in USA" as well.

I got four of these for "beta" testing, but so far, I am impressed with the overall quality right out of the box.

These are 12-feet OAL X 1" webbing, but other sizes (6', 16' and 20') are available as well.

S L I C K !

One potential issue is the "fixed" end is six-inches long, so the ratchet will be on the side of the cargo, but I think it will still clear the seat box (nine-inches) for working the ratchet. Hence, Beta testing...
