After an excursion out to Long Beach to bomb around on the sand last weekend, it became ABUNDANTLY clear that I need a better solution to airing my tires up. My compressor is fairly slow, and holding my old school air chuck to the valve while I brought four 35s back up to street pressure got old in a hurry.
Yesterday, I went and purchased a clip-on air chuck like this one:
While it works fine on a regular valve stem, my mystery wheels have a goofy valve stem that steps from one thread size, where a nut holds them to a wheel, to the Schrader valve size. This "step" keeps the above chuck from going on all the way. Below is a photo of one of my valve stems - it's a little hard to see, but you can kinda get an idea of how the stem is shaped:
So, I'm looking for a clip-on or screw-on valve stem that will work with these. I've scoured Amazon and elsewhere looking for something, but nothing really jumps out at me. I've seen a couple with integral gauges, which is unnecessary for my application (my line is regulated to the tire pressure I want) or require someone to hold a handle or button, which defeats the point. I was thinking something ideal would be a piece that would screw onto the Schrader valve on one end and 1/4" NPT on the other.
Any suggestions from the combined wisdom of ExPo? Thanks!
