Reinforcing hood?

Has anyone reinforced their hood so that they can walk on it to recover stuff from their roof racks; it would also aid in setting up RTTs.

I was thinking 1/8" 6061 T6 about 12" wide at the back of the hood, powdercoated and riveted on.

I guess you'd still mess up the hinges and latch...

Thoughts?

That's the route I'm taking, I have metal-tech sliders that work quite well. It would be nice being able to walk on the hood though...things would get heavy fast if I tried to make the hood strong enough to deal with constant load bearing.

100 series hoods are good enough as is, walk up, miss the windshield and you're up. no reinforcement needed, no dents left. Then again, That doesnt help your 40 problem now does it?
