As Prescott continues to become the coolest town in the West, we welcome a new resident. Kurt Refsnider, the winner of the 2011 Tour Divide race recently moved to town to teach at Prescott College. He and his girlfriend, also the winner of the female Divide division, are great people and clearly the real deal.
We've had a lot of fun riding with these two and yesterday was a great ride. So, what's it like riding with a Divide champion? Impressive. Don't go thinking these guys are just low speed, go all day types. Kurt can rip. A former Cat 2 roadie and cyclocross racer, he's not just a long haul diesel, he's a rocket. What's bizarre is the fact he can jam out a 45 mile singletrack ride with 6000 feet of gain with a group of us, then say, "Okay...gotta go get some more miles in." I wouldn't be surprised if yesterday when he split off from us he doubled our effort. What's equally amazing is his girlfriend Caroline just plodded along behind him happy and smiling.
Quite an inspiration to say the least.

Here's one of our local racers, one of the best in the state, leading Kurt and I up a stout climb. Ya, that's me in the blue kit wishing it would end soon.
