Anyone who has been involved in the whitewater scene in California during the last 30 years has no doubt heard of or read about Lars Holbeck. Lars along with Chuck Stanely wrote the Guide Book to the Best Whitewater in California. The guide book was and is still considered the "whitewater bible" for California boaters.
On a personal note. I was inspired by Lars get out there and do it attitude and made several first descents in Southern California in the early and mid 90's.
He will be missed.
