Roof Basket Placement

I put a roof basket on my Grand Cherokee for our move. It's a lot shorter than I thought it would be and I have it installed at the back of the roof. To me it looks a little goofy, all tiny perched at the back of the roof. But my gas mileage doesn't appear to be suffering too much. Where do you guys have your baskets installed?

I have mine sitting towards the middle on my 01 XJ. That way the weight is more evenly spread out from front to rear.

On my '98 Grand I have it sitting towards the back almost at the rear edge of the sunroof. Plan on transferring it to my '02 and putting it in the same location.

Most manufacturers recommend the installation in the rear of the roof to decrease wind noise.

I use a small ARB roof basket.
It does look good because it has the same width as the roof.

Before that I used a Thule basket, it looked goofy because it was a lot smaller than the roof. It was also a pain to load stuff on it. I got rid of it.
