Roof rack mounting?

I know, another roof rack thread. Well, I've been searching and I've read that to mount the track you want to stay within 6" of the edge?
I'm hoping to mount a yakima roof rack with a track system to my campers roof.
Howabout hardware? Has anyone used wood screws? (I don't want to use through bolts if I don't have to.) And what length? I'm not sure how thick my roof is, I have an 05 hallmark ute and I believe it's a rubber membrane type roof.
Thanks for any help / advice.

Rack info??

Hallmark has optional rack=Utility racks $300.00 to $3,000.00 Yakima / Thule. What do you plan on carrying in/on the rack? I know Coleman tent trailers have racks. Can you still raise the roof with stuff on it?? Maybe put the stuff you plan on taking on the roof and check if you can still pop the top. Just FYI=brian

I have a used yakima rack, it's from a camper shell but it's still a roof rack, my question was mostly about installing it. I don't plan on putting much up there- solar panel and maybe a small cargo basket, on their website they have a video of some guy on a roof on an atv being raised so I don't think weight is a problem for what little I may put up there.
I got an email from mat ward of hallmark, he said they don't recommend a roof rack for my type of roof (rubber membrane) but he did mention to stay close to the edge and use 3/4" fasteners when mounting the tracks should I ignore his advice and do it anyway.
My thought was if I used dicor butyl tape under the tracks and dicor lap seal in each screw hole and around the edges of each track I should be ok.
