The dealer who sold me tent and they could not find the window rods. I called Freespirit and they had a set out to me pronto. minor stuff but it was not their fault the dealer had misplaced them. Dealer did find them a few weeks later. That is great to hear!
What did you experience? Anything you want to expand on?
That is so great to hear. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know. The dealer who sold me tent and they could not find the window rods. That is so great to hear!I too had good support from Freespirit. They answered all my roof rack questions, was even able to tell me what I would need purchase for my specific rack to attach their tent to it. When I had a problem they immediately sent me a part. They've been great.
Very smart question to ask. I'm in the same boat.
What I do know is that James Baroud tents have a number of design defects where they fail after 1.5 years. James Baroud will not stand behind their 5 year warranty so they are not a consideration.
I have heard the exact same things regarding JB tents.Very smart question to ask. I'm in the same boat.

Thank you so much for your opinions. I really appreciate it.lol - Are you the guy that mounted your JB tent backwards and then complained when they wouldn't warranty any damage? Come off it man. JB makes a great tent and I see them all over being used by people that love them.
That being said, I would say their customer service is likely slim to none. I've fortunately never had to use it but the simple fact is that you've got one distributor in the US while they're actually headquartered in Portugal. If you're looking for great customer service, I would stick with CVT. I've had a number of CVT tents and Bobby has been the most reputable and kind businessman I've ever dealt with.
Great review! Thank you so much for your time and your help.Well, Walt Wagner of Tactical Application Vehicles, a certified JB dealer, mounted several of the JB tents backwards on Tacomas. All showed the same failure mode no matter if they were mounted forward or back. Some may be happy with the JB tents, but they all have the same design defect.
A local friend has a JB tent mounted forward on a large platform rack and the tent shows the exact same failure mode. Contacting the local dealer, US distributor, and JB directly they all denied to honor their warranty. I'd agree that their CS is piss poor on the best day. Anyone asking about a tent local or forums I'm happy to share my experience steering them away from unethical businesses.
Good to hear that CVT has good CS.
I have considered RoofNest or maggiolina RTT as I've seen a few around and the owners have had positive experiences with them. In all honesty, I'm not in a rush to buy a RTT as I just finished a trailer build. The trailer has the option of having a RTT, or keeping it simple with a ground tent.
Thank you so much for your opinion. I really appreciate it.I have not heard of Tuff Stuff Overland till recently and have not seen any of their products in person. Form their website, I looked at the Tacoma bed racks and their tents.
Based upon experience, I like how their racks are gusseted. Potential down sides is how the bed rack mounts on the bed rails and the narrow top profile. While not an issue for all Tacoma owners, myself included, when one adds a bunch of weight on the bed rails they can develop play. Many companies started offering bed stiffeners helping with the issue for Tacomas.
For a RTT investment, personally I would want to see one of their tents in person along with calling the company talking with the owner before making a decision.
