To which side (not fore & aft) would you prefer the rooftent to open, and what is the reasoning?

I don't have the vehicle width with the 2200 Eezi-Awn to do a fore | aft opening. I am reasoning now to make it open to the passenger side as more gear would naturally be stored over there and could use the open tent as the awning, but my LC has more weight (spare tire & hi-lift in particular) on the US passenger's side, so I could offset that very slightly by shifting it and opening it to the US driver's.

Eezi-Awn also has offset mounting rails contrary to where I'd prefer them. Opinions?

I setup mine to open to the US Passenger side because i often travel solo and am hopping in and out of the rig for various things and prefer the ladder and such on the other side!

I also mounted it as far FORWARD on the roof as i could to distribute the weight evenly as i already have a ton of weight in the rear!

passanger because if you look at 90% of camping grounds in the US even the remote forest service ones, they are built for RV trailers and they all are set up for opening on the passanger side, due to DOT regulations.

What the heck is this side opening crap!!!! :ylsmoke: Opening over the hood with the ladder to the bull bar is best. That way you are always level in relation to the truck and can re-position the truck with the tent open! You also have the back of the roof rack as a patio! Perfect for drinking a few while the sun sets! Any further questions?! :sunflower

cheers

What the heck is this side opening ...

The 2200 stationed transversally (sp?) reminds me of a high wing aircraft. At 84" long, I think an H1 may be the only one able to pull it off.

Roof completely taken :( no room for...what's that called?..a roof rack?
