RTT, trailer, camper... WTFudge!

Hey EXPO Gang!

First off - after looking at the various topics, this one is probably best given my rig.

Here I sit with a lack of decision. Which way to go for my rig. Having an '03 7.3, vehicle wise, things a solid platform. A few additional upgrades to the steering, replacing the injectors and other wear items (its 13 yrs old fer heavens sakes!) and the beast is solid.

Goal is to not have to set up a ground tent for camping - easy enough. I do want to have a decent kitchen. The comes the shower idea - I like taking a shower after a hard day/long hunt.

Now then, here comes cognitive dissonence/ ADHD on overdrive. Which way to go?
I can pull a trailer behind me (with a RTT, off road tear drop, or refitted tent trailer),
Buy a camper shell (got a short bed - no jokes of lacking please!) or
Build a low profile rack to put a RTT on!

All of the above (or combination thereof) is not wise for the marriage.

So the question is (based off those who have dealt with the issue) what are the shortcomings of each based off those who have actually dealt with this challenge? If you went down one path and think you should have gone down another, why?

for the record: I do have frame drawings for a trailer, have ID'd several campers and have determined which RTT's I like most (and even spoke with mfgr's about mods I would want to be done prior to delivery.)

I appreciate the feedback!

RTT on a trailer. I like my RTT, but I may have whined a few times when I was going out/coming back to the same campsite about how nice it'd be not to have to take the RTT down. The other issue with RTT, for me, is I have an English Mastiff - he doesn't climb ladders well, and is a bit beyond the "I can boost him up" stage.

Yeah, I think you are the perfect candidate for a pop-up truck camper. Hard side has zero set up, but more weight and higher center of gravity. Either way you are golden.

Well... that's not a given...a smaller popup sure. But something like an Outfitter is just as heavy/tippy as a hardside. So shop based on your requirements!
