Salsa Fargo

I just returned from Interbike the other day. There was a new infusion of really slick adventure-worthy bikes and gear. I think the show stopper for the touring set might have been the Salsa Fargo.

It's really a 29er mountain bike with drop bars and a host of touring specific features. The retail price is what makes it a show stopper. Full XT kit for under $1800.

If your adventures offer a mix of tarmac, dirt and even singletrack, it might be worth a look.

I really like the Moots Comooter.

Flounder did you see the Kona Honky Tonk? I really heart that bike but I don't know any shops that sell them.

I must have missed the Honky Tonk. The Moots booth, much like the Colnago booth, made me feel poor and deprived.

You might be interested to know I bumped into Jeff from Carousel Design Works. We recieved his bags on Sept 8th, had them on the Colorado Trail on the 12th and got to talk to Jeff on the 24th. Pretty cool. Nice guy.

So how was the trail man?

It was a perfect blend of beauty and brutality. More info to come soon.

The Carousel bags are pretty awesome. The frame bag perfect. You can pack that sucker solid as a rock and the weight is hard to notice. For big water hauls, I slipped a 48oz Platypus in the frame bag and it didn't bulge, shift or disrupt the ride. The little side pockets make access to food and maps extremely quick. I'd recommend one for your CTR romp next summer.

How was IBike? Did you see any of the Spots? Looks like they finally got the website up. Their belt drive really is intriguing. Any other 29er SS worth mentioning?

That Fargo looks sweet, too, BTW.
