Samurai guys!

who has interest in a full float conversion for the rear of your sami? myself and another friend who is a dynamite machinist have been talking about doing this. even located a local axle shaft guy with a decent price on shafts. however, i have recently found a company in the UK that offers a full float conversion, and there price for a kit at this point is better than just the shafts of the local guy. so i have an email in to the company, and am awaiting some more specific details as well as shipped pricing.

so, if we can get a dcent sized "group" order, i think we may lower the price even further!

my current interest in this is due to a recent tire size change!

no trimming required! well, not yet, as i have not done a proper flex test yet.

another fun fact, is my friend Ken, has designed a cable locker for the samurai. its in testing in the rear as we speak. but it is doing very well. i will try to get him on here to do a little bragging if any of you have interest. gives you and open diff, and a full spool. Also, it defaults to locked in case of a malfunction.

Be way cheaper to find a postal jeep Dana 44 rear axle. Its same bolt pattern, same pumpkin offset, and I believe you can get the same gear ratio. Ive had enough samurai's not to keep messin with the stock axle.

that may be, except it isnt any stronger, and it is heavier. the biggest bonus to a sami is the light weight. so keeping it light is a major bonus. also, keeping it all metric is good. and getting parts for a postal axle is damn hard. plus, you have to consider a lot of people have invested in there stock axles. gears, lockers, steering, armor. this is a much more economic step than to swap to anything else. so i will press on.

anyone that wants to? dont really care who is not interested. just who is!

Didn't mean to hit a nerve with you. Ive been through multiple samurais from full buggies to expo rigs I'm pretty sure trailtough had a hybrid axle that was a full floater that was discontinued. Might want to call them and see if they have some laying around. Have to disagree that a samurai rear axle has the same strength as a Dana 44. Ive been running 35's on the dailydriver samurai with a spool. Too big a tire but had them Laying around. Good luck just don't throw too much money into it. Try zukikrawlers.com and ask there.

already on ZK. just gauging interest here. the cable locker is Geckocycles. no nerve. just calling it the way its intended. i understand your point. but there are a bunch of people with money in there zuk axles, wishing someone would finally offer the missing link to true reliability. ill give you a maybe on the 44 strength, but the ultimate goal is still weight.

@Backroad, look here, and here about the cable locker. The "inventor" is my friend Ken. he is a super smart dude and dedicated zuk guy. he is in some dire straights at the moment, so further locker making is on hiatus at the moment. also, he does not have the time to join another social network, so i will be the info man here. planning to get 2 as soon as possible. but there are issues to getting there. also, if your not a ZK member, you should be!

http://www.zukikrawlers.com/showthread.php?t=39761- Geckocycles is the creator.
