Save the RUBICON TRAIL

I'm getting more and more upset with our "elected government". They are taking my earnings away from me and my family, telling me I'm a potential terrorist, restricting my families recreational activities, violating the Constitution, that they swore to uphold, on a daily basis....I don't even know if I'll recognize our country by 2010 when we have our first chance to peacfully correct this Blitzkrieg into socialism/facisism.

Even after this rant, I still feel no better!

Like the signs says:

"I'll keep my God, guns and money. You keep the change."

I hate seeing the few who ruin it for the more...the one idiot that chooses to drive/ride off trail, drink, get all aggressive with other trail users etc..as much as the next guy. Seems that dealing with the problem is not as easy as elimination of everyone's rights.

And I am all for the intelligent protection of wilderness areas also....but closing trails that have been there for ever......there may be better, albeit more complex, methods to solve this dilema.

However, we all must take a stand. Compromise and concessions for mutual agreement are fine when BOTH sides want to benefit...in the case of some of these closures, the compromise must appear like an invitation to strip away everything from the "minority" interest/enthusiast...

And you are correct "1/20/2010:Change we can believe in."

Read this other Rubicon thread, and some of the Water Board documents before you get all hot under the collar. Try to understand this issues. Action alerts by national groups like this tell only part of the story.

On Thursday, April 23rd the California Water Quality Control Board is having a public hearing in Rancho Cordova to finalize their decision on closing the Rubicon Trail.
NORA is lying to you. The water board is not calling for the closure of this trail.

In addition to the link paulj provided, the potential closures were already discussed a few weeks ago here: http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25282
