Scepter Jerry cans for sale (NY)

Observer
PLEASE NOTE THE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN THE INFO BELOW.

I am getting a bunch of used plastic military surplus jerry cans.

These are Scepter cans (they are stamped "Scepter Canada" and "US".) They are US military surplus cans and have a single handle (rather than the 3 handle "fuel" cans). MOST have been used for various chemicals and as such I would not recommend using them for water (some are marked "water", use for water at your own risk!).

I'm trying to make this as economical as possible for people so I'm taking "pre-orders" to gauge interest (no payment will be necessary to make a pre-order). These will be located on Long Island, NY. The cost will be as close to $10/can as possible - this will all depend on the quantity I order and the final shipping quote. I WILL INFORM BUYERS OF THE ACTUAL PRICE BEFORE ANYONE PAYS ANYTHING.

PICK UP ONLY, unless you arrange directly with me to bring them to the Coal Mine Cruiser Classic in July)

Please send me an email at mark AT woytovich DOT com. Give me your name and quantity that you would like. I will follow up in a few days with the results and a timetable for ordering and payment.

Thanks, and I hope that this works out to help everyone out with a great deal.

Mark

PS Here is the picture I have of these cans...

Sorry bud. You're crazy. You can buy a new can for $18.99ea online.

Good luck.

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
You can buy new water cans for $18.99 but the fuel cans are nearly impossible to find now (in the states). Those of you who are aware of the sources please keep them to yourselves so they do not get cleaned out.

Fwiw all those shown in the pictures are not MFC's but in fact MWC's, they have the vented large screw on cap. Thus they likely don't have the sealing provisions for the fuel, nor the back vent into the can for quick fueling, also Scepter or standard Blitz fuel spouts won't fit. I've never heard of the military using any of the MWC cans for any sort of fuels, other liquids sure but not fuels. Mark, if you have not pulled the trigger on these yet you may want to hold off, you can still get all the MWC's you want for under $20/can new. If your picture is just showing the MWC's and your actually getting some MFC's, ignore me :D Your results may vary.

RIght, these are as you have observed. As I said: "...and have a single handle (rather than the 3 handle "fuel" cans)" That would make them MWCs.

I am speaking with the supplier to see about better pricing for this "group buy" situation... I think they are going to go for it... more later...

Stay tuned...

By the way the new MWCs available are not Scepter brand cans like these (this seems to matter to some people)

You are absolutely correct, the $19 buyLCI MWC's are not Scepter however are mil-spec. Most notably they do not have the o-ring seal vent cap such as the Scepters ship with. Also, when comparing the two side by side you can see some flashing marks are different, thus they likely don't come from the same factory either.

Just to be fair Mark, fuel will not be fine in these cans, they do not have the sealing nor vent provisions to be safely used as a fuel can imo. We've discussed this at length here on ExPo in other threads but I stand by my assesment that its not worth the risk, again your results may vary.

Kurt,
Thanks for the clarification. I now see that I jumped the gun here (in my excitement to wheel a good deal).

I am going to drop my offer to ship these - it's not cost effective. The only option for people is to pick these up here on Long Island or to arrange for me to bring them to CMCC in July.

I have also had another conversation with the supplier and I negotiated a better bulk price/shipping (to me) deal. Please see the first post for updated details and pricing.

Thanks,
Mark

For what it's worth I was the one that found and posted out to ih8mud the new & cheap LCI cans a while back... always looking to pass on a good deal to the community.

This used can deal is only good with bulk shipping to a single point. After I place my order I'd be happy to share the source here and on ih8mud so others can get together a bulk buy... they have 75+ cans in stock.

The LCI MWCs are a great deal!

If I were you I'd pass on the originally posted MWCs offered. Once they have been contaminated with fuels, they are no longer good for water. And as others have stated, MWCs are not suitable for fuel due to no gaskets = leakage. In a nutshell, MWCs that have had fuel in them are worthless.
