Sceptor Water Cans (MWC) - Color choice and solar heating

Hello,

I'd like to purchase couple of MWCs but have a question. Has anybody compared the color selection and water temperature after a day in the sun? I'd love to see how much of a difference it makes between the dark OD can verses the light tan one.

Thanks

I have a black one I use for wash up water
all depends on the amount of sun hitting of course :)
compared to the tan not sure how much hotter never measured but its noticeable maybe %20 or more ? really cant say for sure
did leave the black one out here and was like 90+ degree day forgot how long but the water was HOT like uncomfortable hot !
while the tan one was just warm/hot !
my other ones are tan we use for drinking water we keep inside the tent usually

never had the dark green color ? but if you can get the blacks for wash and get some sun they truly heat up better than the tan

Interesting point about using black for wash water, I hadn't considered that. I have four of the thick rubber black Swiss water bags but they're so thick that even as black as they are the water doesn't get very warm. I am moving away from those because they can be a bit difficult to stow (being a soft, inconsistent shape) and on one the liner material is breaking down, I don't like floaties in my water.

I ended up purchasing two tan cans here. Hope I get them soon as I'd like to fill one for an upcoming Adopt-A-Trail maintenance day. It should fit in nicely in my M416 between my two steel USGI fire water cans (liner paint is bad so they pick up rust, non potable water only).
