Scratching my head...

Jenn and I our slowly planning our move back east and looking into a trailer set up for our sea kayaks instead of the very difficult roof set up I have now. Plus it would be nice to have a nice set up so when we get back to CT we can just hook up the pre packed trailer and head down to the Sound for a quick paddle.

I have been searching and looking at all options out there, but I just can't find anything within reason. I do not need all the bells and whistles of an AT trailer since the truck is built for Expeditions. All I need is a durable trailer with upgraded suspension, a cargo area for the gear with a lid on top for Thule Bars and our Kayak saddles. It does not matter if the lid flips up to get to the gear or if its fixed and there is another way into the cargo area.

We just need something simple and easy.

Any suggestions on trailer makers that I may be missing or any other thoughts. I would just build one if I had the time and ability to do that, but I don't.

The issue is that sea kayaks are very long and the trailer articulates with the vehicle. The easiest solution is to mount the kayaks on the top of a trailer with enough height clearance to clear the top of the tow vehicle. Allowances have to be made for the vertical changes that occur, for example when the tow vehicle starts to climb up a slope and the trailer is still on flat ground. In it's simplest form a flat bed trailer with a tall rack would work.

The only other solution I can think of is a long trailer.

After all my searching that is about what I have come up with. Thanks, I wanted to make sure there was nothing I overlooked in my search and I can't get much better then your input.
