Seat Install

Hi all, Have quick question.
First thanks for everyones input on here, my favorite site to visit!

I am installing seats in my cargo van. The seat base plate is 8.5x14. On the bottom I am using angle iron to act as big washers. Now on the top I am planning 3/4 inch subfloor. Should I cut out the wood subfloor so the seat base is directly on the vans floor or is ok to mount it onto the plywood. (plywood between the seat base and van floor)
Thanks! Ill get pictures up as soon as I can.

Wood doesn't make the best "washer". From an engineering standpoint it would be best to eliminate the seat-wood-van steel interaction. That said, you would probably be fine with the distributed load across the seat base assuming it is fastened well, kept dry, and checked for tightness semi-regularly.

I would eliminate the wood but put a piece of dynamat or something similar between the base and the van floor.
