Looking at DIY lockable storage for my Xterra Ala truck vault. I'm looking at one drawer most likely in case I wanted to keep a long arm in there locked up. Dimensions approximatelyou 10-12"Hx46"Wx33"D. Maybe build a slide-out tray on top with d-ring attachment points. The storage box would be anchored to the track system in back and also would like room to mount air compressor and a batteryear on one side and possibly inverter on the other or my Yeti 400. Lots to think about and would love everyone's opinion
I’m thinking a steel shell with plywood or steel drawers. My idea is 2-piece shell, with the bottom piece being just a plate with threaded studs around the perimeter on which the top frame would bolt onto. The bottom would mount solidly to the SUV floor. The top shell would then have no exposed fasteners accessible with the drawers locked. Here’s a quick drawing of what I’m thinking for the shell:
