Second spare location

I'm doing some trips up to Northern Canada/Alaska and down to Baja over the next couple of years and I'm thinking of getting a second spare as it's recommended by friends that have done these trips. I have an F150 with a GFC camper so can't store it in the bed. I'm thinking of a swing out hitch system for the spare (first will be in standard location beneath the bed). Anyone used the Wilco Hitchgate systems, and are there any other options for F150's that don't require much modification of the truck?

Some of the issues I see with them are reduced departure angle (even though they claim they don't), blocking the reversing camera and having to deal with swinging them out the way every time I want to get in the back (better than wheeling out a rubber smelling tire that may be dirty every time though).

I say look for a local fabricator and have it build something to your liking....
With that said.. a tire repair patch kit and air compressor should be part of your tool kit... if it isn't already...

Thanks. I'll have a look into that, it could be an option. And yep, I'll have a tire repair kit and I have a compressor.

I read on this forum that Thuren Fabrication is going to make a tire carrier, that would be worth checking out.
